As of September 1, 2026, Joeri Voets will step down as CEO and director of SandGrain. This decision follows discussions between the Shareholders, Supervisory Board and Executive Board regarding the company’s next phase of growth and the leadership profile required for that phase.
The Supervisory Board and Shareholders thank Joeri for his contribution over the past years. During his tenure, he transformed SandGrain into a more market-oriented organisation and successfully led the company through its €13.5 million Series A funding round, an important milestone in SandGrain’s growth journey.
With this milestone achieved, SandGrain is now entering its next phase of growth, with the ambition to further strengthen its position in IoT cybersecurity and scale its trusted device identity technology internationally.
During the transition period, SandGrain will be led by Charles Smit, Chair of SandGrain’s Supervisory Board, who will temporarily step into the role until a new CEO is appointed. Charles brings extensive senior executive experience from the semiconductor industry, including leadership roles at NXP Semiconductors and Nexperia.
Business operations continue as normal, with an ongoing focus on executing the company’s strategy and supporting its customers and partners.

Per 1 september 2026 treedt Joeri Voets terug als CEO en bestuurder van SandGrain. Deze beslissing volgt op gesprekken tussen de Aandeelhouders, Raad van Commissarissen en het bestuur over de volgende groeifase van het bedrijf en het leiderschapsprofiel die voor deze fase nodig is.
De Raad van Commissarissen en Aandeelhouders danken Joeri voor zijn bijdrage in de afgelopen jaren. Onder zijn leiding heeft SandGrain zich ontwikkeld tot een meer marktgerichte organisatie en heeft hij het bedrijf succesvol door de Series A-financieringsronde van €13,5 miljoen geleid, een belangrijke mijlpaal in de groei van SandGrain.
Met het bereiken van deze mijlpaal gaat SandGrain nu een volgende groeifase in, met de ambitie om haar positie binnen IoT-cybersecurity verder te versterken en haar technologie voor trusted device identity internationaal op te schalen.
Tijdens de transitieperiode staat SandGrain onder leiding van Charles Smit, voorzitter van de Raad van Commissarissen van SandGrain, die deze rol tijdelijk op zich neemt totdat een nieuwe CEO is benoemd. Charles brengt ruime ervaring in senior managementfuncties binnen de semiconductorindustrie mee, waaronder bij NXP Semiconductors en Nexperia.
De bedrijfsactiviteiten gaan onverminderd door, met blijvende focus op de uitvoering van de strategie en het ondersteunen van klanten en partners.
